What is the scope of the damage and what are the repercussions for future generations? Dr. Molina will address how scientists measure the effect of human activities on the depletion of the ozone layer. He will also address how public policy might be used to prevent and repair future environmental damage to our planet.

Most people think it is impossible to have a career as a screenwriter living anywhere but LA and NY. Well? Guess what? Yes we can!
WIFV is working to challenge that out-dated belief by bringing the best teachers and industry professionals to DC in mid-October. This year we are partnering with the DC Shorts Festival, The Actor's Center and TIVA-DC to expand offerings, partnerships, and fun!
Screenwriters Megan Holley, "Sunshine Cleaning", and Jeff Porro, "The Great Debaters", will be joining other invited local and national industry professionals to ensure that all participants gain the skills, knowledge and connections they need to be successful. Workshops will demonstrate how to network, how to pitch your work and how to finance film projects in addition to offering the unique opportunity to have the opening of scripts critiqued by producers.
$200 WIFV, DCFA, TIVA-DC and Actors Center Members/$300 general public. You may register for individual workshops - $50 members/$75 public. Individual one-on-one sessions with producers are also available - $40 members/$50 public.
We will be updating the screenings, workshops, panel discussion schedules regularly. If you can't wait, contact Jane Barbara, sicilyusa@comcast.net, WIFV Screenwriter Conference Chair, to find out the latest presenter and say "Yes, I am coming to the conference." We have special room rates at the Palomar Hotel off of Dupont Circle so you can enjoy a writing retreat!

ABOUT THE TOPIC: Biodiversity means the variety of organisms (animals, plants, and even microbes) that exist within any given geographical area. This variety decreases as species go extinct. In the last two hundred years, the extinctions are clearly tied to human interference. Each species has a role that others depend on, including people, to keep the natural balance and a healthy planet. Our food, fuel, building materials, clothing fibers, and medicine all depend on a diverse assortment of native flora and fauna. With this presentation, you will be astounded at the variety of life in the United States - we are home to more than 10 percent of the 1.5 to 1.75 million species of plants and animals known to science. You'll learn what types of life in the U.S. has more of than anywhere else in the world, what the most endangered groups are, and what the Fish and Wildlife Service is doing to maintain biodiversity.

Grammy nominated and platinum-selling recording artists, Jonas Brothers, today announced the dates and cities for "The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009." The tour, which will take the band to three continents, will feature new music taken from the June 15 worldwide release of their upcoming Hollywood Records album. "The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009," presented by Burger King(R), kicks off in Dallas at New Cowboys Stadium on June 20 and will take the band throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to their 44-city North American trek, Jonas Brothers will also play three European dates including recently sold-out shows at Paris' Zenith Arena and London's Wembley Arena plus a just-added date at Madrid's Palacio De Deportes. Additional European shows will be announced soon along with debut tour dates in South America. "The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009" is produced by Live Nation.
On Monday, March 16, Team Jonas fan club members in select cities will have the first opportunity to buy tickets to the summer tour. A pre-sale for CITI(R) card holders in select cities will begin on March 18 through CITI's PrivatePass(R) program, for complete details visit www.citiprivatepass.com. Tickets for the general public in select cities will be available beginning March 20 and can be purchased at www.livenation.com. Check www.jonasbrothers.com for specific cities and times for pre-sales and public on-sales.
"The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009" will present the band's most ambitious production yet and will include a massive 140-foot plus stage centered in the arena that aims to give a larger number of Jonas Brothers fans a closer, more interactive live concert than they've ever experienced before. The show will feature cutting edge technology used in a one-of-a-kind circular water screen, multi-color laser effects, motion automated video screens, a giant crane levitating over the audience plus other surprises that will bring the tour to the next level of concert entertainment.
"This tour is going to be about really connecting with our fans," says Joe Jonas. "We've got new music that's taking us in new directions plus a mind-blowing production that's going to surprise everyone. We want to give the audience the summer concert they're not going to ever forget."
"The Jonas Brothers are a worldwide phenomenon," said Jason Garner, Chief Executive Officer of Global Music at Live Nation. "In 2008 their global tour included 113 concerts and drew nearly 1.2 million fans. The band is now more popular than ever -- with a new movie, album, TV show and book -- and we are optimistic that this summer's tour attendance will reflect that popularity."
"As presenting sponsor of the Jonas Brothers' summer tour for the second year in a row, we're planning a lot of excitement for Jonas Brothers fans beginning with the first tour stop in Dallas on June 20," said Cindy Syracuse, senior director, cultural marketing, Burger King Corp." We'll be announcing plans for the ultimate HAVE IT YOUR WAY(R) Jonas Brothers 2009 experience in support of the tour over the next few months." Special guests on "The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009" are American Idol winner and Jive Records' platinum-selling artist, Jordin Sparks, and rising stars, Honor Society.
The Jonas Brothers became a pop music phenomenon in 2008 with the release of their platinum-selling album, A Little Bit Longer, and two tours that earned the band a spot among the top selling tours of the year. They also won an American Music Award for Breakthrough Artist and were recently nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Artist Category.

Elton and Billy Joel, the most successful and longest-running concert pairing in pop history, will reunite for their Face 2 Face tour beginning in March, 2009.
Elton and Billy open the concerts with a series of duets, playing twin pianos and trading vocals. Each artist then performs a set with his own band. A grand finale brings the two superstars and their supporting musicians back together for a closing encore. This includes some of both Elton and Billy's greatest hits along with an unpredictable selection of rock and roll classics.
"I love touring with Billy. I have the greatest respect for him and we're such good friends," Elton said. And "the great thing about performing with Elton is that he is such a good piano player and that makes me have to dig deep to keep up with him, not to mention I've got the best seat in the house-only one piano away from Elton John!" said Billy.
